Mayco International is committed to providing its customers with quality engineered products at the lowest possible cost. Mayco is constantly searching for new technologies that help achieve this goal. Two-shot molding is one way. Two-shot molding is a form of co-injection molding that produces complex components in a single step, instead of multiple steps with traditional injection molding.

The process involves injecting two different plastics with the same machine. This system can produce components that are made of an inexpensive inner supporting structure surrounded by a more costly decorative "soft touch "shell. Compared to molding the component just using the more expensive material, two-shot molding can mean large cost savings over the life of a program. This process can also mold a rubber casket around the periphery of a rigid part in a single step as opposed to multiple, saving time and money.

For over six years, Mayco International has been able to offer its customers two-shot molding capability, with press sizes ranging from 700 to 1,300 tons.
