Long Glass Fiber

One of the main determinants in strength of glass fiber products is the length of the original fibers. In most manufacturing facilities, the act of mixing the fibers with various plastics and binders often breaks the glass into increasingly shorter lengths, thus weakening the molded product. Mayco’s patented process keeps long glass fibers at their original length throughout the molding process.

We have developed a method of blending glass fiber, polypropylene and binding chemicals at the molding station. In addition, blending and molding take place at the same time, thus reducing the total handling (and potential breakage) of the glass fibers.

Advantages:
  • High tensile strength
  • 20,000 PSI
  • Lightweight
  • Good fatigue resistance
  • Low cost
  • An alternative to steel
