Film Technology:Thermoformed Film - General Information |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
The film specialists in Maycos coextrustion facility can create a wide range of thermoplastic film custom formulated for specific factors such as color, thickness and tensile strength. In addition, Mayco can specify the films metallic content for appearance, reflectivity and RF shielding. Once the film is crated, it can be shipped in roll or sheet form, and trimmed and cut to customer specifications. The film can also be thermoformed and trimmed to any shape in Maycos fully automatic shuttle, thermoforming facility. After thermoforming, the film is ready for direct application or injection-molded with a substrate for additional strength.A two-station shuttle thermoforming system, was designed by Mayco engineers with two parallel production lines. This thermoformer can feed coextruded plastic film past a shared oven station before being transferred to forming and trimming stations. The tandem production lines reduce cycle times, as well as increase output, over standard single-line thermoforming systems. A highly automated collection of subsystems, including robotic loading stations; a common oven element for both production lines; twin platen forming stations can accommodate up to a 10x12 mold size with a 8,000 lb. (3637 kg) load-lifting capacity; an integrated six-axis robotic trim system; and a sheet-feed system, which ensures repeatable registration to within .002" throughout the thermoforming process. |
